Issue/Introduction

  • Editing the vCenter(VC) credentials fail with the error:
Error: Single certificate required but a certificate chain was provided.
  • Production activities are not impacted - deployments, deletions for example work as expected.
  • Manually importing the individual certificate into the Trusted Certificates and then saving credentials again shows the same behavior.
  • Testing the connection from VCD to VC in the UI is successful.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.1.1

Resolution

This error can be safely ignored if the production activities are not impacted.

The required vCenter certificates are already in VCD trusted certificates.

Additional Information

  • Follow either 'Option 2: Automated' or 'Option 3: Manual' in the KB 320513 to import the certificates into the certificate section.
  • Refer Step 9 from the section "Add the vCenter Server Instance to VMware Cloud Director" in the documentation and apply as required based on the environment.
