Issue/Introduction

Question

How to sync a directory via CA Service Desk Manager (CA SDM) version control from the Background/Primary server to the Standby/Application/Secondary Servers?

Answer

Add the following block to the end of the NX_ROOT\site\mods\server_secondary_custom.ver file:

[MY_ANALYST_MODS]

directory="$NX_ROOT/site/mods/www/htmpl/web/analyst"

o_mode="RW"

g_mode="RW"

w_mode="RW"

dir_ctl

You need to modify the directory string to match the folder that you would like to sync.  Version control will then mirror changes from the Background/Primary server when services are started on the Standby/Application/Secondary servers.

Please note that version control is not recursive (i.e. it will not sync sub-directories).  You should also take care not to sync files that contain server hostnames or other server-specific information as this may cause unexpected behavior due to a host name mismatch.
