ESXi patching through SDDC manager precheck fails with "vSAN HCL DB is not up-to-date"

Issue/Introduction

While performing prechecks for patching the ESXi to another build through SDDC UI, the following error is received,

vSAN HCL DB is not up-to-date

Checks the age of the VMware Hardware Compatibility Guide database used for the HCL checks. Shows warning or error when it is older than 90 or 180 days, respectively. VMware updates the VCG frequently, so it is important to keep the local copy up-to-date

Environment

  • VCF 4.x
  • VCF 5.x 

Cause

The issue occurs when vSAN HCL database is not updated for more than 90 or 180 days.

Resolution

In order to fix the issue, manually update the vSAN HCL database using the steps from Updating the vSAN HCL database manually
