External Job stuck in DE (ESP dSeries)

Issue/Introduction

The external job is stuck and is not completing.

 

Environment

Workload Automation DE: Any

OS: Any

Cause

If the user adds an external job that monitors a job in its own application, then it may get stuck if any time limit has not been defined.

Resolution

When adding or defining an external job, make sure a time limit for backward and forward is entered.  If those fields are blank then the default time is now, or the time job started.  The job will not look for any previous home application and jobs.  In addition to that, external jobs do not bind to a generation, instead they use time limits to search for home application and jobs.
