Very high disk write latency reported in vCenter performance charts.

Issue/Introduction

While viewing disk/kernal write latency in performance charts in vCenter, very high or low spikes are noticed similar to this screenshot on hosts with very low utilization.

Environment

vCenter 8.x

Cause

This is a transient spike caused by a calculation error when calculating device latency only on very low utilization hosts and can be ignored.

Resolution

This will be fixed in a future version.
