ESXi host reports "Not Responding" state in vCenter

Issue/Introduction

• The ESXi host is unable to ping its own default gateway.
• However, the ESXi host IP is reachable from an external jump box (located in a different subnet).
• The ESXi host IP is also reachable from vCenter.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

The ESXi host’s management IP is resolving to a different MAC address, indicating that another system on the network was using the same IP and causing IP conflict.

Resolution

Fix the IP conflict by configuring a unique IP address on the ESXi host and ensuring no other devices in the environment are using the same IP.
