We’re currently on TKG Service version and would like assistance upgrading to version

Cause

Manually register a new version of the TKG Service  with vCenter Server for the purposes of upgrading the TKG Service

Resolution

Complete the following steps to upgrade the TKG Service version. The TKG Service version upgrade is performed at the Supervisor level. If vCenter Server is hosting multiple Supervisors, you need to select the target Supervisor. The upgrade is non-impacting and will not restart the supervisor or workloads.

  1. Register a New Version of the TKG Service

  2. Log in to support.broadcom.com and navigate to Enterprise Software.

  3. Select "My Downloads" from the left-hand side navigation.

  4. Search for vSphere Supervisor Services 

  5. Next, navigate to the service of your choice and the version you wish to install.

  6. Click on the download icon on the service definition values.yaml file you are looking to install

  7. In vCenter Server, navigate to Workload Management, Services.


  8. Locate the service tile named Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service.

  9. Select Actions, Add New Version.

  10. Click Upload. Select the package.yaml file, click Finish

  11. Upgrade the TKG Service Version

  12. Actions, Manage

  13. Select Supervisor, Install Version, drop-down box, choose version, Next (no options), Finish
