Disk Backup and Restore - MVS DISK BACKUP AND RESTORE- ADD-ON OPTIO DISK BACKUP AND RESTORE

Issue/Introduction

Does Disk™ Backup and Restore support the VSM feature to start replication directly after writing a Tapemark ?
How does Disk™ Backup and Restore work in this regard, when are Tapemarks written?
Is there any parameter that determines when Tapemarks are written?

Environment

Release: Disk™ Backup and Restore

Resolution

Disk™ Backup and Restore doesn't write any tapemarks using I/O commands. Tapemarks are written when the tape data sets are closed. Sysparm SYNCDEVS has no effect on writing them. It only controls when we issue the syncdev CCW to flush the tape buffers.
While Archive and Merge are fine for replication after the tape data sets are closed, Sequential Migrate will have problems because we are stacking multiple data sets on the tape volume and each close will write Tapemarks.
