Alerts not defined in a policy are triggering in Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

Alerts will trigger even though even though it is not activated in a policy.

In the alert definition under the Policies tab the policy is selected but not viewable from the policy.

In the alert definition under the Policies tab unselecting the policy will make it viewable from the policy.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18

Resolution

  1. Log into the UI.
  2. Navigate to Configurations > Alert Definitions.
  3. Search for the alert.
  4. Hit the 3 dotted buttons next to the alert and select Clone.
  5. Rename the alert and under the Policies tab select the policy.
  6. Hit Create to save the alert.
  7. Select the original alert definition and from the 3 dotted buttons select Delete.  Hit Yes to confirm.
  8. Navigate to Configurations > Policy Definition.
  9. Select the policy and expand the Alerts and Symptoms.
  10. Search for the cloned alert to verify if it is Activated.
