Issue/Introduction
- The backup proxy VM is relocated when VDDK is restoring a disk with HotAdd transport mode.
- The disk could not be detached by VDDK from the backup proxy VM after the restore task completes.
- We will see the below in the VDDK logs:
No disks to remove for (XXXX)” could be found in VDDK logs
Cause
- When using HotAdd transport mode to restore the disk, VDDK attaches the disk on the backup proxy VM with independent-persistent disk mode.
- After relocation, the independent-persistent disk is renamed.
- VDDK cannot find the attached disk on the backup proxy VM and could not detach it automatically when closing the disk.
Resolution
- The disk needs to be deleted manually and the restore task needs to be scheduled again
