Issue/Introduction

  • For health updates displayed in vSAN PHM health alert a.k.a. vendor reported drive health page, Dell changes the severity of the health update info "com.dell.hsm.storage.PDR113.4346" from warning level to informational level and revised the vendor remediation message to "No action is required."
  • Given such changes, the health updates associated with this health update info should no longer be regarded as predictive failure or failure alert.
  • This may cause confusion or misled vSAN user to service the disk when they observe such health updates displayed in vSAN PHM health alert page.

Environment

  • VMware vCenter Server 8.0 U3
  • VMware vCenter Server 9.x
  • Dell HSM 1.7.0

Resolution

  • Dell has agreed to stop sending such health updates in the next release.
  • In the meantime, issuing this KB to clarify that user should not take any proactive disk servicing action when a Dell PHM health update with health update info ID "com.dell.hsm.storage.PDR113.4346" is displayed in vSAN PHM health alert screen.
