Issue/Introduction

Symptoms

  • Replication for VM TEST is failing in Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
    • An error is observed in SRM:

Error (RPO violation) - (Insufficient storage space on device for datastore path [DATASTORE] TEST/hbrdisk.RDID-cba407d9-8205-455b-9ca1-785a22a2cd35.218934.258242530365034.vmdk)

  • Datastore usage on DC site:

Filesystem    Size   Used  Available Use%  Mounted on
    VMFS-6        20.0T  19.1T  908.4G    96%   /vmfs/volumes/DATASTORE

Environment

VMware vSphere Replication 9.x

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Cause

The replication process fails because the target datastore lacks sufficient free space to accommodate the incoming replicated data. This results in replication errors indicating insufficient disk capacity.

Resolution

  • Expand the target datastore  to ensure adequate free space for incoming replication data.
  • After expansion, replication will automatically resume, or it can be manually resumed from the SRM interface.
