Issue/Introduction

An ESXI image is customized and specific components such as VMtools are removed

When the host is upgraded or when HA is disabled then re-enabled we will see the change revert and VMtools will once again be on the host at the old version

Environment

vCenter 8.0 u3

ESXi 8.0 u3

Cause

The Removed Components are not copied during the "SetSolutions" task on the vCenter

When SetSolutions is triggered as part of the upgrade or the switching of HA, the changes made to the ESXI image are not carried forward and therefore the change to the image is undone

Resolution

Broadcom Engineering are aware of this issue

It will be resolved in the following versions of vSphere:

  • vCenter 8.0 u3 P06
  • ESXi 8.0 u3 P06

Additional Information

As a workaround, the users can again remove the same set of components from the desired image to make the clusters compliant once again.
