Issue/Introduction

Maintenance mode for vSAN host with Ensure accessibility failing with the below error.

The host cannot enter maintenance mode. Resource check failed - Internal failure happened during the resource check. Please check clomd.log on host

Data migration pre-check also failing with the same error message.

Environment

VMware vSAN 7.x
VMware vSAN 8.x`

Cause

This could be caused due to a vSAN Object with FTT0 storage policy and mandatory affinity set to 1 on that host.


esxcli vsan object list command from the ESXi host will report the storage policy as listed below. 

Policy:
  stripeWidth: 1
  proportionalCapacity: [0, 100]
  hostFailuresToTolerate: 0
  affinity: ['645529a9-a051-3131-eefc-############']   <--- This will the UUID of the affected host.
  affinityMandatory: 1
  replicaPreference: Performance
  CSN: 1221

Resolution

Please follow one of the below action plan to fix this issue.

• Apply a storage policy with FTT 1 or above.
  
  
• Apply a Storage policy without mandatory affinity to any specific host.
