Issue/Introduction

The vmkernel.log shows the following repeated log entries.

pf_free_state: delayed for state(XXXXXXXXXXXXXX) id:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX timeout:25 (Expected 25) refcount:1 (Expected 1) ens_refcount:1 (Expected 0)

Environment

  • 7.x

Resolution

You can suppress the log entries with the following commands:

esxcli system syslog config logfilter add --filter="1|vmkernel|pf_free_stateā€

esxcli system syslog config logfilter set --log-filtering-enabled=1

esxcli system syslog reload

We recommend opening a support request with Broadcom to investigate the root cause of the log entries.
