Gen Gen - Run Time Distributed

Issue/Introduction

There are a few changes to the Gen 8.6 Distributed PTF IDs (prefixes).  These changes have been made to make it easier for development to manage the PTFs, as well as make it easier for users to identify PTFs that they need to download.

Environment

This article pertains to Gen 8.6 Distributed PTFs that are delivered post 8.6.4 Consolidation.

Resolution

Windows Changes

Starting immediately, the RTN PTF ID will be replaced with:

RTC - Runtime, C (Windows)

RTG - Runtime, GUI

DTU - Diagram Trace Utility

The RTC PTF ID follows the naming convention used with RTJ (Runtime, Java) and RTA (Runtime, .NET) to represent the Windows Runtime languages.

PTFs that now target the C Runtime can use the same PTF numeric value across all distributed platforms.   For example, when the release C Runtime fix 86408 is released, the PTF names will be:

     RTC86408

     RTI86408

     RTL86408

     RTR86408

     RTX86408

This will align with what is currently done when releasing Generator PTFs for the distributed platforms.

Unix/Linux Changes

In addition to new PTF IDs for the Windows platform, the following PTF IDs are being introduced for the Unix/Linux systems:

BTI - HPUX Build Tool

BTL - Solaris Build Tool

BTR - AIX Build Tool

BTX - Linux Build Tool

Prior to this all Build Tool PTFs for Unix/Linux were released using the RT* PTF IDs.

Summary

The Gen 8.6 Solutions & Patches page has been modified to accommodate the new PTFs:

Build Tool - New Windows component subsection

Runtime, C - New Windows component subsection

AIX - Build Tool - New AIX component subsection

HPUX - Build Tool - New HPUX component subsection

Linux - Build Tool - New Linux component subsection

Solaris - Build Tool - New Solaris component subsection

As for RTG PTFs: the Runtime, GUI component subsection already exists

As for DTU PTFs: they will be inserted under Other PTFs.
