Update/remediate vCenter Server SSO admin [email protected] password fails with "Update API for NSX Compute Manager failed" in SDDC manager

Issue/Introduction

Updating/remediating vCenter Server SSO administrator [email protected] password fails in SDDC manager with error "Update API for NSX Compute Manager failed" 

 

Environment

SDDC Manager
NSX-T

Cause

vCenter Server that is not part of the SDDC manager has been added to the NSX manager (management and/or workload).

Resolution

Review compute managers in all the NSX managers that are part of SDDC and remove the VC node referenced in the error message.

  1. Log in to the NSX manager in the web browser

  2. Go to System -> Fabric -> Compute Manager

  3. Review the vCenter Server listed and remove the VC node that is referenced in the error message if the compute manager is not used by NSX.

  4. Retry remediating the vCenter Server SSO administrator again.
