VCF Operations for Networks VMware vRealize Network Insight 6.x

Issue/Introduction

  • Upon completing the deployment of the Aria Operations for Networks platform appliance with the X-Large brick size, the following error appears in the UI, as shown in the screenshot:

  • NOTE:  this alert may block upgrade pre-checks in Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager (ASLCM).  You may see an additional alert "System usage has breached capacity"

  • NOTE:  VCF Operations for Networks was formerly named Aria Operations for Networks (AON), and prior to that was named vRealize Network Insight (vRNI).

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks.

vRealize Network Insight

Cause

This is expected behavior. Even if the X-Large brick size is selected during deployment, vCenter initially allocates only 1 TB of disk space.

Resolution

  1. If you select the X-Large deployment configuration, you must manually add an additional 1 TB disk after completing the deployment to meet the system requirements for the XL brick size which is 2 TB.

  2. Refer to the documentation on 'How to Increase the Disk Size' for step-by-step guidance.

  3. After adding the additional disk size to meet the brick size of the platform VM, you must reconfigure the platform VM.  This is done via the VCF Operations GUI under Settings > Infrastructure and Support

    Additional Information

It is also useful to validate the actual disk partition usage before and after disk addition

    To do this:

    1. SSH or use the Web Console to login to the appliance with the support user

    2. Switch to the ub user with the command "ub"

    3. Run the command "df -h" and record the results in a Notepad or screen shot.

NOTE:  the system may take some time, usually not to exceed 15 minutes, to auto-detect the new disk and reconfigure the partition internally.  A reboot is not required and should not be done.
