Issue/Introduction

CDM is throwing a Paging alert to SOI that is showing the top 5 processes. That alert is not in the Operator Console. The alarm policies for the Windows group this is a part of is not even set to send Paging alerts. This server has never shown the top processes for CDM.  The Setup cdm it is using is set to show the top 5 processes for memory and the top 6 for CPU. There seems to be some inconsistency for these alerts and I am not sure if that points to robot issues, MCS issues, OC issues, or probe issues.

Environment

  • DX UIM 23.4 - any CU
  • cdm 7.21 / 7.22
  • cdm-8.01-T2-20250604.zip

Resolution

For testing, you can temporarily set the CPU and Memory thresholds really low like 1% for 15 mins or so as it needs to use real live probe-generated alarms not just nas or controller generated 'test' alarms.

Note that in order to calculate the CPU used by individual processes for the Top Processes alarm to be populated, the cdm probe requires a minimum of 2 samples to calculate it.

Additional Information

  • Use this updated version that has some extra debug code as well as additional fixes for an issue with the new cdm Scheduler functionality that had previously been added to the cdm probe n cdm 7.21.

  • Use cdm-8.01-T2-20250604.zip which is attached to this article.
