Disks for VCSA show 0MB in vCenter UI

Issue/Introduction

  • vCenter appliance is showing 0 MB for the disks in vCenter UI.
  • Seeing the error "Some of the disks of the virtual machine "[vCenter name]" failed to load. The information present for them in the virtual machine configuration may be incomplete." 
  • The vCenter appliance is up and running
  • In the vCenter appliance settings you can see the below screenshot in the "edit settings" pane:

 

Environment

  • Upgraded from VCSA 7 to 8.0.3 when the issue showed up. 
  • 5 vCenters in ELM.

Resolution

  1. Make sure all disks are showing properly in VM datastore folder
  2. Make sure no snapshots are running on vCenter
  3. Create a VAMI Backup 
  4. Power off VCSA 
  5. The VM may become inaccessible.  If so, you will need to remove the VM and reregister from the vmx file.
  6. Power on the VCSA
