VMware vSphere ESXi

Issue/Introduction

After making a change to the storage controller/HBA, or physical disks, vSAN disks/diskgroups are not visible.

In vSAN Disks view in vCenter, even though the ESXi host appears healthy, the Disks In Use column shows 0/0.

Running this command on an SSH session on the ESXi host returns no output.

esxcli vsan storage list

Note: This article only applies to the scenario where there previously was one or more healthy vSAN diskgroups on the ESXi host and, after some change they are no longer visible, as above.

Environment

vSAN 7.x and 8.x

Cause

This generally indicates a problem with the hardware.

Resolution

Investigate the storage controller/physical disks/driver/firmware. Engage the hardware vendor, if appropriate.
