Issue/Introduction

When trying to enable EVC for a cluster, we get the following errors:

Environment

  • VMware vCenter 8.0.x
  • VMware ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

tmp disk is full in one of the hosts in the cluster, and the vCenter is unable to create the svgaFeatures file in it.

YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ssZ vmkwarning: cpu##: WARNING: VisorFSRam: ###: Cannot extend visorfs file /tmp/_dummyVmSvga_#####/svgaFeatures.vmx because its ramdisk (tmp) is full.

Resolution

  • Verify the size of the tmp disk by using the command below in the affected ESXi host.

          # vdf -h

            Ramdisk                   Size      Used     Available  Use%  Mounted on

            tmp                       256M      256M     0B         100%  --

  • Remove the files from the tmp disk to free up space.
  • Restart the hostd service using the below command:

           /etc/init.d/hostd restart

  • Then enable EVC for the cluster
