Issue/Introduction

  • Templates sync happen without any issues to the Local Subscribed libraries from the Publisher Library.

  • However at subscribed library located other (remote) site, Template(s) sync operation fails with below Error Message:

    A general system error occurred: Error transferring file VM-1.vmdk from https://Pub-VC:443/cls/vcsp/lib/531fbb96-####-####-8d0a-fbe0####c819/d4d5622f-####-####-b83b-ee05e####92a/VM-1_f8788ed9-####-####-8f44-fafbb###cdc4.vmdk. Reason: IO error during transfer of https://Pub-VC:443/cls/vcsp/lib/531fbb96-####-####-8d0a-fbe0####c819/d4d5622f-####-####-b83b-ee05e####92a/VM-1_f8788ed9-####-####-8f44-fafbb###cdc4.vmdk: Read timed out

  • In the same site as that of the Publisher one, Template sync is successful and works fine to the Subscribed library.

  • But Template sync fails at around 97% in the other (remote) site. Templates are transferred however the data is not copied and transferred templates reflect as 0 Bytes.

On ESXi host where the Template sync happen (Source ESXi host where the Template is located on Publisher Library and Destination ESXi host where the Template is copied on remote Subscribed library), will show below log traces:

Cause

VMDK file copy operation fails due to "NFC_NETWORK_ERROR"

 

Resolution

Kindly engage the Network Team to identify the underlying issue interrupting the file copy operation between the Source ESXi host where the Template is located on Publisher Library and Destination ESXi host where the Template is copied on remote Subscribed library.

Additional Information

Port 902 is required between ESXi hosts to perform NFC/NBD-based Transfers for Content Library.
