CBRC digest files will not be migrated for VMs with CBRC enabled running on ESXi 8.0U3 or 8.0.3P04 when XvMotion is done to older releases

Issue/Introduction

• When XvMotion is performed for VMs with CBRC enabled and running on ESXi 8.0U3 or 8.0.3P04 to older releases ( pre 8.0U3 or 8.0.3P04) CBRC digest files will not be copied to older ESXi hosts.
• This will cause CBRC digest attach to fail during VM power on on older hosts and CBRC functionality can not be leveraged.

Environment

• VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0 U3
• VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0 P04

Cause

This is a known issue effecting VMware vSphere ESXi

Resolution

• Broadcom Engineering is looking into the issue and the behavior will be fixed in the upcoming releases

Workaround:

• CBRC digest file can be recreated for the given VM to continue using CBRC on older hosts
