Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Unable to create replication for any VM's from Prod to Recovery site fails with this Error :  "A generic error occurred in the vSphere Replication Management Server. Exception details: 'https://cidrvcenter.ongc.co.in:443/lookupservice/sdk invocation failed with "java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host"'
• Creating VM replication using legacy and Enhanced replication works from recovery to prod site.
• Existing replications that were previously configured from Production to Recovery site continue to function without issues. The problem is isolated only to the creation of new replications from the DC (Production) site.

• The failure message highlighted below, captured from the /opt/vmware/hms/logs/hms.log file on the Recovery site vSphere Replication appliance, indicates that replication configuration for a VM failed.

Cause

Replication group creation for VM fails due to issues in communication between the target vSphere replication appliance (HMS server) and its associated vCenter Server.

 

Resolution

Reconfigure the vSphere Replication appliance from the VAMI page at the recovery (target) site to re-establish proper communication with the associated vCenter Server
