VM deployment from Aria Automation fails to receive new hostname/IP address

Issue/Introduction

VM deployment from template in Aria Automation succeeds however, the VM does not get the new hostname/IP address as provided in the customization spec.

Guest customization logs(/var/log/vmware-imc/toolsDeployPkg.txt)on the deployed VM show below errors: Customization command failed with exitcode: 127

Environment

Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

This issue happens if neither cloud-init nor perl is installed on the machine from which the source template was extracted.

Resolution

Install perl/cloud-init on the source template.
