"No matching placement error: cannot place disk as Machine is placed on different placement." Error when adding a disk as day 2 operation in Aria Automation (Storage Profile changed)

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• When adding a disk to certain VMs using the day 2 operation in Aria Automation, it fails every time with error:
  • No matching placement. Error: No storage profiles are matching the disk requirements
• The storage for this VM has been moved from the provisioned storage profile to another profile

However:

• The Project of the deployment has not been changed and the relevant Cloud Zone still exists
  • Please see KB 314789 for this different Project / Cloud Zone scenario which shows the same error text.

Environment

• VMware Aria Automation 8.18.x
• VCF Automation 9.0

Cause

• In some scenarios, Aria Automation does not correctly reflect the change in storage profile, so it is unable to find the correct storage

Resolution

A fix for this issue will be available in Aria Automation 8.18.1 Cumulative Patch #3, as well as in VCF Automation version 9.1.
