Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Duplicate CI Records in CMDB Due to Integration Between ServiceNow and Aria Automation
  • In ServiceNow, there are entries for VMs in both the "Vmware Virtual Machine Instance" class (vCenter out-of-the-box discovery) and in the "Resources" class (vRA plugin) if using both of these
  • These entries for the same VM are not linked to each other in the CMDB

  • VMware Aria Automation 8.x
  • VMware Aria Automation Plug-in for ServiceNow ITSM

Resolution

This is by design: we at VMware / Broadcom do not produce the ServiceNow inbuilt vCenter discovery and this is not always used in conjunction with the VMware Aria Automation Plugin for SNow [ServiceNow store link].
