Issue/Introduction

VMs experiencing poor performance

From HP array we see:

vmkernel.log is spewing the below messages:

2025-02-08T03:33:10.483Z cpu51:2108940)FSS: 7441: Failed to open file 'hpilo-d0ccb##'; Requested flags 0x5, world: 2108940 [sut], (Existing flags 0x0, world: 0 [unknown]): Busy
2025-02-08T03:33:10.496Z cpu51:2108940)ilo : Open could not dequeue a packet

 

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0

HP servers with HP ILO

 

Cause

See KB ESXi goes unresponsive and vmkernel logs are spewed with "Failed to open file 'hpilo-d0ccbXX' messages"

Resolution

We recommend you update your HPe drivers and firmware to the latest compatible version and reboot the host.
