Issue/Introduction

  • Powering on a vApp fails with the error below:

    [ ########-####-####-########c6fc ] Invalid NAT rule containing vAppScopedVmId ########-####-####-########fe7d and nic index 0. Either the VM is not connected to the network or it is configured with DHCP addressing mode. NAT rule cannot be configured for nics with DHCP addressing mode.
  • One of more VM NIC, for one or more VM in the affected vApp, are not connected to a vApp network.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.1.1

Cause

This issue occurs when the VM has NIC to connected to a vApp network.

Resolution

Check the VM NICs inside the affected vApp, proceed connecting the VM NICs to the vApp network (if there are NICs not connected to a vApp network) and power on the vApp. For additional information visit the documentation at Edit Virtual Machine Properties in the VMware Cloud Director Tenant Portal

After connecting the VM NICs to the network, when powering on the vApp you may have the error reported in the KB 399898.
