Issue/Introduction

The custom compliance report in VMware Aria Operations displays "No Objects Assessed" indicating that the report is not evaluating any objects.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

Use of a cloned alert definition for the default / standard compliance report.
Cloned alert definitions can sometimes lead to misconfigurations or improper associations with policies, resulting in the report not assessing any objects.
Cloning existing alert definitions without thorough verification can introduce discrepancies, especially if the cloned alert isn't properly configured or integrated into the active policy.
This misalignment can cause the custom compliance report to overlook relevant objects, leading to the "No Objects Assessed" message.

Resolution

This behavior is known to us. Required to follow the below approach while working on custom compliance benchmarks as a workaround:
  1. Create a New Alert Definition: Instead of relying on the cloned alert, create a new alert definition tailored to the custom compliance requirements.
  2. Associate with Appropriate Policy: Ensure the new alert definition is correctly linked to the relevant policy governing the clusters in question.
  3. Validate Alert Configuration: Double-check the alert's settings to confirm it targets the intended objects and conditions.
