vNIC eth0 and eth1 are swapped after upgrading to Usage Meter 9.0

Issue/Introduction

If customer added second nic to Usage Meter, primary nic and added second nic are swapped after upgrading to Usage Meter 9.0 

Environment

Usage Meter 9.0

Cause

Adding vmxnet3 nic to Usage Meter appliance before upgrading will cause the issue. And if adding second vmxnet3 vnic to newly deployed Usage Meter 9.0, vnic swap will occur by Usage Meter appliance reboot. 

Resolution

This is limitation of ethX naming rule when adding removing devices.

Workaround:

Adding e1000e vnic as second one will not have this issue. So replacing added vmxnet3 to e1000e before upgrade is the workaround for this issue.
