Data Services Manager - Upgrade to 2.2.2 from 2.2.1 fails

Issue/Introduction

When attempting an upgrade of DSM from 2.2.1.6070 to 2.2.2.183, the upgrade fails after a few minutes.  

Upload of the update file was successful, staging of the update file was successful, but installation has failed after several attempts, including after a reboot of the appliance.

Environment

VMware Data Services Manager 2.2.2+

Cause

An S3 Storage Endpoint Backup location has a old untrusted certificate.

2.2 has raised the certificate standards.

 

 

From the appliance logs:

ERROR: [095]: unable to find hostname '###.###.###.###' in certificate common name or subject alternative names
           [CryptoError] on 12 retries from 105-60002ms: unable to find hostname '###.###.###.###' in certificate common name or subject alternative names

Resolution

Administer the S3 Storage Endpoint Certificate to include a Subject Alternative name (SAN)
