Issue/Introduction

The file /storage/log/vmware/sca/vmon.stderr is not being rotated and is consuming a large amount of disk space.

Environment

vCenter Server 7.0U1 or later

 

Cause

/storage/log/vmware/sca/vmon.stderr is not being rotated.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 7.0U3q, vCenter Server 8.0U2 or later.

To clear the enlarged files as a temporary workaround:

1. Restart sca service
    service-control --restart vmware-sca
2. Truncate the enlarged files:
    echo -n > /storage/log/vmware/sca/vmon-<number>.stderr
 e.g.) echo -n > /storage/log/vmware/sca/vmon-0.stderr
