VLSR showing ERROR Operation Failed A general system error occurred: Failed to register VRMS after upgrade from v.8.8.0

Issue/Introduction

After an upgrade of the VLSR Replication Appliance from version 8.8.0 to 9.0.2 when trying to register they are seeing the following error:

ERROR Operation Failed A general system error occurred: Failed to register VRMS after upgrade from v.8.8.0

Environment

vCenter 8.x

VLSR 9.x

Cause

This issue was being cause by duplicate HMS DPX roles in the vCenter Server.

Resolution

In vCenter go into the Menu > Administration > Roles

Review the roles and look for two entries of HMS DPX.

Once located remove both roles then restart the vCenter server.

Once the vCenter is back up and running complete the reconfigure on the VLSR appliances.
