Resolution

To do this you will require a Linux environment and CLI.

You will need to convert the vmdk file found in the Photon 5 ova file to a raw file and mount the raw file in order to check files for kernel version.

The procedure would be to:

 - Download whichever Photon 5 ova from support.broadcom.com downloads.
 - Extract the contents of the downloaded ova file
 - Install tools on your Linux jumpbox to convert the vmdk file to a raw file
 - Check the Start sector for the Linux Filesystem on the raw file.
 - Set an offset variable and mount the raw file.
 - Run ls /mnt/boot to find the kernel version written in the file names.

The procedure above is documented internally , if you require guidance on this please request assistance via a Technial Support Engineer.
