Issue/Introduction

Went preforming a HCX migration from any datastore to an NFS datastore we will get the following error on HCX:

Unable to create dummy disk, A general system error occurred: Invalid argument

and this error on Vcenter

Environment

Vmware HCX

Vmware Storage

VMware Vsphere

Cause

This error occurs When we are trying to migrate VM's that are larger than 4 Terabits to a NFS datastore, this is due because an NFS datastore has a limit of 4 terabits and anything bigger than will fail to create or moved to this datastore unless large file is is enable on the array

Resolution

Enable Large file on the NFS array side, this will allow you to deploy a max disk or 16tb for this reach out to your NFS storage Vendor

workaround

Deploy vm's that have VMDK less than 4 TB.
