Issue/Introduction

  • Cloud Proxy problems - stale or missing entries from bad firewall rule
  • You have several cloud proxies already, but this one was "partially deployed" due to a one-way only firewall rule.
  • You deployed a cloud proxy, but were unaware of one-way firewall rule. The console of proxy showed connected, but it wasn't showing in the GUI. You checked the VAMI/Admin page and see it added., but it was showing "Outdated life status".
  • You found the firewall rule was not configured correctly. You deleted the cloud proxy appliance VM without removing it from Aria Operations and awaited the FW rule to be fixed.
  • You redeployed the cloud proxy with the same IP but slightly different name. The new cloud proxy is showing healthy in the VAMI/Admin page, but does NOT show in the GUI, rending it unusable.
  • The already deleted Cloud Proxy from the first attempt is still showing in the Admin UI too.
  • You need help removing the old entry and getting the new Healthy Cloud Proxy to show in the GUI so you can use it.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.16+

Resolution

  1. Use the steps from Manually removing a Cloud Proxy from Aria Operations to remove all previously failed cloud proxies
  2. In vCenter, power off and delete any of the previously failed cloud proxy appliance VMs
  3. Use the steps in Configuring Cloud Proxies in VMware Aria Operations to deploy a new cloud proxy
