Error "Chosen Alert Definition's Object type does not match with the selected Object" When Validating a New Notification

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to create and validate a new notification alert by following the steps outlined in the product documentation, the following error may appear during the Test Notification step:

"Chosen Alert Definition's Object type does not match with the selected Object."

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

This error occurs when the alert selected for testing does not match the object type specified in the defined notification criteria. Test notifications can only be sent if the selected alert is relevant to the object type defined in the notification settings.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

• Ensure that the notification criteria are correctly configured.
  
  
• Select an alert that matches the object type defined in the notification criteria.
  
  
• Retry the test notification with a matching alert definition.
