Issue/Introduction

In exploring what's new in ITMS 8.8, you need to know how to inventory and report on browser extensions.

Environment

ITMS 8.8

Resolution

To collect browser extension inventory:

  1. Ensure the "Browser Extension" data class is selected in your Inventory Policies and/or Inventory tasks.
Note that this new data class is collected within the Hardware Inventory type.
  2. In an inventory policy or task, click the "Advanced" button and navigate on the Data Classes tab to Inventory data classes > Software > Windows and check the box for the Browser Extensions data class.

To see reporting on collected data:

  1. Navigate to Reports > All Reports > Discovery and Inventory > Inventory > Windows > Software/Applications > Browser Extensions to find two reports, Count of Browser Extensions by Browser and Installed Browser Extensions. Each of these reports has drill-down capabilities by right-clicking a row of the results.
