Unable to resignature snapshot LUN in vSphere Client

Issue/Introduction

• When trying to resignature a snapshot LUN via "Add Storage" only the "Format the disk" option is available

     Can resignature: false
     Reason for non-resignaturability: some extents missing

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0

Cause

 This issue arises if the datastore is a multi-extent datastore, and the snapshot of only one extent is presented to the ESXi hosts.  

Resolution

• Present the missing snapshots of the remaining datastore extents to the ESXi hosts.
• On choosing "Add storage" the resignature option should now be available.
• Resignature the LUN.

Troubleshooting LUNs detected as snapshot LUNs in vSphere
