Install Datacom Server 15.1 Software Using z/OSMF Deployments

Issue/Introduction

Steps to install the Product Portable Software Instance (PSWI), that exists on the z/OS system and is defined to z/OSMF.

Resolution

  1. Login to z/OSMF and Select Software Management.

    .

  2. Select Deployments 

  3. Select New from the Actions menu.



  4. Specify the a name, description, and click OK.



  5. Select the software to deploy. For this step, select the Portable Software Instance button, select your package
    and then click OK.

             
               


  6.  Select the object for this deployment.



  7. Indicate where and how you want to install the selected portable software instance. For this step, indicate that you want to create a  software instance and specify the global zone CSI and the system where the target software instance will reside and click OK.




  8. Check for missing SYSMODs and view missing SYSMOD reports.
    Click Next 



  9. DESELECT the following report options:
    Requisite SYSMODs and Fix Categories reports
    Regressed SYSMODs and HOLDDATA Delta reports 
    and click FINISH.




  10. Click OK 




  11. Configure this deployment to define the target software instance.
    For DLIBs, specify Yes to copy the distribution zones and libraries that are associated with the source software
    and click NEXT.



  12. For Model, indicate The source software to use as a model and click NEXT.



  13. For SMP/E Zones, the DLIB and TLIB names do not typically need to be changed. 
    Click Next.



  14. Select Modify from the Actions menu, change the target data set name prefix to the one that you want to use for your deployment
    and click NEXT. 



  15. Change the target data set name prefix to the one that you want to use for your deployment
    Specify a volume or storage class to identify where to create the target data sets.
    Click OK.



  16. Click NEXT 



  17. CLICK FINISH.



    • Define the job settings to generate JCL to install the software and view the deployment summary. For this step, update the JOB statement as needed. 



  18. View the deployment summary.

  19. Submit the deployment jobs.

  20.  Submit the deployment jobs in sequential order, wait for each job to complete, and then select Refresh to register job completion in z/OSMF.



  21. When all deployment jobs have executed successfully, Execute post-deployment workflows in sequential order for the software being deployed.

    .

  22. Perform the Datacom Server V15.1- Post SMPE workflow.
    Right click the on the Name and click OPEN.



  23. Right click on READY and select PERFORM.




  24.  Specify the Input variables - Target zone data set names and
    click Next.



  25. Review Instructions and click NEXT.



  26. Specify a JOBCARD

    Select the desired ''Apply Updates to'  option and click Next.

    For this example, the option to Apply Updates to all Workflow steps was selected. 



  27. Confirm the 'Apply To' selection by clicking OK.



  28. Review JCL and click Next. 



  29. The Submit JCL box is already selected, and when satisfied with the JCL and options selected, 
    click the FINISH Button.




  30. Make sure that all of the Job Steps completed with condition code 0000 and then Click the Close Button.



  31. The Job that finished successfully with CC 0000 is now marked Completed, and the next step is now in a READY State.
    Right click on Read and select PERFORM. 



  32. Review Instructions and then click Next.



  33. Specify a JOBCARD

    Select the desired ''Apply Updates to'  option and click Next.

    For this example, the option to Apply Updates to all Workflow steps was selected. 




  34. Confirm the 'Apply To' selection by clicking OK.




  35. Review JCL and then click NEXT.



  36. The Submit JCL box is already selected, and when satisfied with the JCL and options selected, 
    click the FINISH Button.



  37. Make sure that all of the Job Steps completed with condition code 0000 and then Click the Close Button.




  38. The Job that finished successfully with CC 0000 is now marked Completed, and the next step is now in a READY State.
    Right click on Read and select PERFORM. 



  39.  Specify the USS path where to store the file and information for future workflows.
     Then click NEXT.



  40. Review Instructions and then click NEXT.



  41. Specify a JOBCARD

    Select the desired ''Apply Updates to'  option and click Next.

    For this example, the option to Apply Updates to all Workflow steps was selected. 



  42. Confirm the 'Apply To' selection by clicking OK.

     


  43. Review JCL and then click NEXT.





  44. The Submit JCL box is already selected, and when satisfied with the JCL and options selected, 
    click the FINISH Button.



  45. Make sure that all of the Job Steps completed with condition code 0000 and then Click the Close Button.



  46. The Post SMPE workflow steps are now completed.
