Issue/Introduction

Is it possible to see how many hours of an AWS capacity reservation was reserved or used?

Resolution

Capacity Reservation usage details can be reported on in FlexReports.

1. Create a FlexReport using the AWS Cost & Usage Report Datasource
2. Add Measure LineItem UsageAmount or NormalizedUsageAmount
3. Add Dimensions LineItem ResourceId and LineItem UsageType
4. Add a filter on LineItem ResourceId contains "capacity-reservation"

The report will show utilized capacity with UsageType containing 'Reservation', and unused capacity with UsageType containing 'UnusedBox':

Note: UsageAmount is calculated by multiplying the number of instance slots covered by the line item with the number of hours covered by the line item.
