Why is it not possible to delete a resource?

Environment

CA Business Service Insight 8.3.x and 9.x

Resolution

Resources can only be deleted when they are first created and before they are used.

If a resource is in use then it cannot be deleted because it is being referenced by the other objects in the database.

However, even if it is no longer used, you cannot delete a resource which was used in the past because there are too many places in the database where it may be referenced by old versions of contracts and other objects.

The recommended method to deal with this is to flag that resource as "not effective". This can keep it from appearing in a list of effective resources and basically removes it from having to be dealt, with but without actually removing it. 

DESIGN -> RESOURCES -> RESOURCES and edit:

Then you click edit on the effective date of the resource:

Then you set the resource to no longer be effective for those dates. If you have other dates and you do not want it effective for those, edit them as well
