The user is trying to add the disk to an existing disk group, and it failed with the following error message.
"A general system error occurred: Disk is not empty."
The same disk was part of the disk group at some point.
The reason the disk cannot be added to the disk group is that it is seen as mounted on the same disk group. If the disk is shown as available when the user tries to add the disk to the disk group, the disk should not be mounted on any disk group.
When we verify the status of the disk in the ESXi host using the command "esxcli vsan storage list", it shows "Is Mounted: True" and "In CMMDS: False."
The disk was part of the disk group, but for some reason, it was dropped from the group; however, the entry remained, and this stale entry is preventing the disk from being added back to the disk group.
The user needs to erase the existing partition on the disk, and after that, adding the disk to the same disk group should succeed.
Before deleting the partition, ensure the ESXi host is in maintenance mode and all vSAN cluster objects are healthy.
