Issue/Introduction

MIB import fails when MIB contains more than one MIB definition

Environment

Release: All Supported Releases
Component: SPCCSS - SpectroSERVER Core

Cause

MIB import of a single MIB file fails with message:

The MIB referenced by the selected file appears to contain more than one MIB definition. Each MIB definition needs to be in a separate file.

The reference to the external MIB within the imported MIB file is made via "OBJECT-IDENTITY FROM MIB;".

The referenced MIB file exists as a MIB in the MIB Tools Database but not as single MIB file in MIB import directory.

Resolution

Verify that there is no MIB bundle file stored on the MIB import directory.

The MIB import tries to resolve the MIB reference to the import directory first, then it checks the MIB Tools Database to resolve the reference.

The MIB import will fail if there is a MIB bundle file with the referenced MIB identified because the MIB import functionality does not allow to import bundle files.
