vSAN -- Capacity - What is the "Object reserved" space

vSphere Web Client --> vSAN Cluster --> Monitor --> vSAN --> Capacity --> Capacity Usage

is showing an X amount of "Object reserved" as shown in the Example below (= Object reserved: 3.34 TB)

 

Environment

vSAN 7.x

vSAN 8.x

Cause

Thick-Provisioned VMs are located on vSAN.

Resolution

Review the section "Resolution" in the KB Thick-provisioned VMs on vSAN detected on vSAN-health check
