VMware Aria Suite

Issue/Introduction

  • The cluster is taken offline properly through the admin UI
  • Nodes are restarted per Shutdown and Startup sequence for Aria Operations cluster
  • After the nodes are booted up and you log into the admin UI, the cluster status shows "Going Online" and the status for the nodes shows "Waiting for analytics..."
  • Depending on which node you log into to access the admin UI, other nodes may appear with the "Offline" status
  • Attempting to ping between some or all nodes using the Fully Qualified Domain Name fails
  • Viewing the configured DNS servers via cat /etc/resolv.conf, the IP addresses listed are not the correct DNS servers
  • After configuring the correct IP addresses in the /etc/resolv.conf file and running systemctl restart systemd-resolved, running cat /etc/resolv.conf now shows no IP addresses

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The vApp properties on the nodes are not enabled. In order for a cluster to come Online, the Fully Qualified Domain Name for all nodes must be resolvable via DNS. Aria Operations configures the DNS servers on the Aria Operations appliance based on the settings in the vApp properties.

Resolution

Enable and configure vApp options on every node in the cluster following Restoring vApp properties in VMware Aria Operations 8.14 and Later
