Summary:
This document details the use of the CA Client Automation Deployment Wizard to UNIX targets using a non root (sudo) user account. Many times due to the security risks involved with using root account administrators will want the option to use a user with sudo rights to protect the root account password etc. It will also make mention of other CA Client Automation Technical document numbers and should be familiar with prior to running Deployment Wizard to initiate the installation.
Environment
CA Client Automation R14
All Supported UNIX platforms
Instructions:
1. Open the DSM Explorer and browse under Domain/Control Panel/Deployment/Infrastructure Deployment Wizard, Click Next.

2. Select the option to “Deploy Software to target computers.” Click next

3. Select which agents to install on UNIX you should install the DSM Agent and the Software Delivery agent. After a successful install of these items then use the agent package and install additional agents EG: Remote Control Agent or Asset Management agent. Click Next.

4. Under Deployment Type select the option that meets you needs in this example we are choosing “Deploy to Specific Computers”. Under Computers enter the hostname or IP address of the target machine. Click Next

5. Click on the scan button and you should see a message that the machine is responding and click next.

6. Highlight target computer in the left hand side of the pane and select the “Add selected discovered computers to target when you click next the User Credentials dialog box appears

Enter the username and password of the sudo privileged account and password. Click ok then click next on the bottom right portion of the screen.

7. Enter the Scalability Server’s Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) and click next.

8. Review the Summary screen and click Finish

9. This brings you to the Deployment job status screen

10. You can also view more details on job by selecting in left hand pane Deployment job status and hitting the plus sign (+) and highlighting the active job for its status.

11. When the job completes you will see the status turn to installed.
