Hold action requirement to Relink XMESSAGES for the Database Tools

Issue/Introduction

Some Database tools PTF's have hold actions which mention the need to Relink XMESSAGES. What is the requirement of Relink XMESSAGES and when should it be done?

Resolution

The PTF Hold Data that mentions relinking Xmessages is referring to Post install step
"Link Externalized Message Text" (which is optional)

This is an optional step only needing to be run if the delivered Xmessage dataset has been updated by a customer. Which is very rare as there is little need to do so.
